Mr. Juan Carlos Gonzalez is a determined leader with more than fifteen years of experience in non-profit administration and working with the community. He is the co-founder and creator of Musicall and has served as executive director since 2013. Under his administration, he has led Musicall through a steady pace of growth and transition, increasing the budget by more than 50% annually for the organization’s first four years as a result of programming expansion and evaluation initiatives.
Mr. Gonzalez has developed and produced various music programs, including community initiatives, after-school programs, and summer camps. He orchestrated countywide workshops aimed at raising awareness within the community about the crucial role of music education in children’s holistic development. These workshops engaged a diverse spectrum of participants, including artists, educators, professional musicians, therapists, and medical professionals.
Under Mr. Gonzalez’s leadership, the Youth Orchestra succeeded at the Festival Orchestre Giovanili in Florence, Italy, 2022. Their participation in this prestigious event further solidified their reputation for excellence internationally, showcasing the talent and dedication fostered within the Musicall community.
In the summer of 2023, Mr. Gonzalez coordinated the participation of the Musicall Youth Orchestra in the Summa Cum Laude Music Competition held in Vienna, Austria. The Orchestra’s outstanding performance led to their achievement of first place in the competition, not only elevating the organization’s reputation but also shining a spotlight on Miami’s vibrant arts scene on the international stage.
He has secured funding for new after-school and summer programs in underserved areas of Miami-Dade, including the highly competitive grants from The Children’s Trust in 2018 and 2023. These grants have enabled Musicall to expand its reach and provide music education to even more children in need.
Mr. Gonzalez completed his Business Administration studies at Barry University and is known for his hands-on approach, always working alongside parents, children, and educators in every aspect of Musicall’s operations. Fluent in Spanish and English, Mr. Gonzalez is a unique and invaluable asset to the organization and its community.
