Founded in response to the growing demand for musical excellence within Miami’s vibrant community, the Musicall Youth Orchestra of Miami began its journey in 2015 under the auspices of Musicall, Inc., which was established in 2013. Representing the pinnacle of Musicall’s commitment to nurturing young talent, this orchestra embodies years of dedication to the transformative power of music.
At the heart of the Musicall Youth Orchestra are some of Miami’s most accomplished student musicians. Carefully selected for their exceptional skill and unwavering dedication to their craft, these young virtuosos form the most advanced ensemble within Musicall. Many members have earned top ranks in the prestigious All-State Band and Orchestra Competition, distinguishing themselves as leaders in their schools and the broader community.
The Orchestra’s musicians hail from diverse cultural backgrounds that reflect Miami’s rich heritage. While the majority were born in the United States, their cultural roots span North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. These include countries such as Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Panama, Brazil, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. This cultural diversity adds a unique vibrancy to their performances, uniting a global community through the universal language of music.
The Musicall Youth Orchestra has performed at some of Miami’s premier venues, including The Miami-Dade County Auditorium and the Wertheim Concert Hall at Florida International University’s School of Music. Beyond local performances, the Orchestra has gained international recognition for its excellence. In 2023 and 2024, they earned First Prize in the Summa Ensemble Category at the Summa Cum Laude Music Competition in Vienna, Austria, a remarkable achievement that solidified their position on the global stage. They have also performed at prestigious international venues, including the Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein, ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Terme Tettuccio in Montecatini, and Piazza della Signoria in Florence, as part of their participation in festivals such as the Giovanili Festival in Florence, Italy.
In addition to their four main annual concerts, the Orchestra performs monthly academic concerts through Musicall, Inc., and contributes to the Miami community through a series of outreach and fundraising performances. Notably, they have supported charitable causes such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, using their talents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The Musicall Youth Orchestra thrives under the expert guidance of Artistic Director Maestra Taimy Balbuzano and Music Director Maestro Jose Antonio Bornot. Together, they bring decades of experience, a profound passion for music, and a steadfast commitment to developing young talent. Their leadership inspires the musicians to explore new realms of artistic expression, refine their craft, and elevate their performances to new heights.
